Subject: | Death Certificate Not Listing Cause of Death |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would amend the Vital Statistics Law, where upon request by an individual, death certificates can be obtained without listing the cause of death. There are instances where families may not want the cause of death listed on a certificate due to a potentially embarrassing situation when listing the cause of death is not necessary. As a state legislator, I feel that families should be protected and have this right if they so choose. There are many instances in which this is valuable information, including but not limited to genealogy, tracing one’s ancestry, prevention of identity theft and for personal reasons of families who have lost a loved one. If you have any questions about this legislation, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your support of this important proposal. |
