Subject: | Resolution Commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the Establishment of Upper Merion Township, PA |
In the near future, I will introduce a Resolution to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the establishment of Upper Merion Township in my legislative district. Settled by Swedish and Welsh immigrants, Upper Merion Township grew to become home to small villages such as King of Prussia, Swedeland and Swedesburg, whose names reflected the cultural origin of many of its inhabitants. Upper Merion Township has also been the beneficiary of historical distinction when in 1893 it received national acclaim due to the establishment of Valley Forge State Park and again in the 1960's with the construction of the King of Prussia Plaza, considered "the world's largest shopping center" at the time. I hope you will join me in recognizing Upper Merion Township on the anniversary of it's tricentennial. |
