Subject: | Use of Nanotechnology in Public Facilities - Resolution |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution directing the Department of Health to revise regulations for public facilities in support of nanotechnology and other non-toxic means to control bacteria, mold, mildew, fungi, algae, viruses and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) causing obnoxious odors. Nanotechnology is a diverse application involving the manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale. The regulations for public facilities should include testing for bacteria, mold, mildew, fungi, algae, viruses and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) twice a year, and should allow and encourage the use of nanotechnology and other non-toxic means that are proven to be effective for killing microbes; and are not harmful to people, places, animals and the environment. Services such as nanotechnology provided to public facilities should be delivered by certified technicians. The services should carry a seal of certification for compliance in keeping microbial contamination at safe levels as depicted by ATP scales, which is an indicator for microbial activity. If you have any questions concerning this resolution, please feel free to call me at 787-6651. Thank you. |
