Subject: | Disabilities Awareness Month |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the month of March 2023 as "Disabilities Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania. A disability can affect someone from any age, race, or background, whether it be from birth or from an event that led to it. In both Pennsylvania and America as a whole, one in four adults have some form of disability. Even with these statistics, not everyone is aware of the issues that people with disabilities face. Despite there being protections for this group at the federal and state level, they still face discrimination in the workforce, lack of public accommodations, and hardships in other day-to-day activities. This resolution will bring awareness and help to get everyone involved in finding solutions to these issues. Please join me in sponsoring this important resolution and help make Pennsylvania a better place to live for everyone, regardless of their abilities. |
