Subject: | Chief Vernon Moses Memorial Highway |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to designate a portion of U.S. Route 19 between Ivory Avenue and Cemetery Lane in Ross Township, Allegheny County, as the “Chief Vernon Moses Memorial Highway”. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Ross Township Police Department. The community wishes to honor the sacrifice and service of Chief Vernon Moses, who served the Ross Township Police Department for 12 years and was its first police chief. On May 3, 1932, Chief Moses lost his life in the line of duty from gun violence that was pervasive in the community during the Prohibition Era. Chief Moses is the only Ross Township police officer to have lost their life in the line of duty during its 100 years of serving the community. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation to honor Chief Vernon Moses at this 100th anniversary of the Ross Township Police Department. |
