House Co-Sponsorship Memoranda

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation creating a new Instant Lottery Game to benefit our commonwealth’s aging veterans. Over 450,000 of Pennsylvania’s veterans are over the age of 65, accounting for well over half of our state’s veterans, and that number is only increasing.  

 

Our elderly veterans were there for us in many of our country’s times of need. It is proper that we provide for them in their times of need which is why my legislation will establish an instant lottery game to exclusively provide for Pennsylvanian veterans. 

 

This new lottery game will be dedicated to help fund elderly veterans’ daycare programs and services, as well as provide additional payments to the Veterans’ Trust Fund. This legislation will further assist our veterans in receiving the proper compensation and benefits earned by their service and sacrifice to both Pennsylvania and to the country.  

 

The mission of the Pennsylvania State Lottery has always been to benefit our older citizens. Since the PA Lottery was first established in 1971, it has provided more than $30 billion to programs such as care services, property tax and rent rebate programs, free and reduced-fare transportation services, low-cost prescription programs, and local services provided by the 52 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs). We should build on these successes and establish a program specifically to benefit our older veterans.
