Subject: | Easing Restrictions on Performing Arts Facility Liquor Licenses |
I plan to introduce legislation which would extend the benefits of selling alcoholic beverages to-go to performing arts venue licenses in Pennsylvania. Current law prohibits these specific liquor licenses from selling alcoholic beverages to-go – for off premises consumption. This bill would add language giving the Liquor Control Board the ability to provide these licenses with temporary authority to do what currently other R-licenses are doing in order to turn some profits during the pandemic. Many of the these performing arts venues are community-based, and seasonal, relying heavily on annual events for fundraising needs. This proposal merely seeks to give these licensees the same benefits afforded to hotels and restaurants. I would ask for your support in joining me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
