Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 11, 2020 03:22 PM
From: Representative Dan Moul
To: All House members
Subject: Prohibiting fees for Property Value Appeals.

Colleagues,

In the near future I plan on introducing legislation that will amend the Consolidated County Assessment Act to prevent Appeal boards from charging a fee for completing an appeal of the value for a property.  In many cases the individuals that would benefit the most from appealing the value of their property cannot afford to file an appeal due to the cost imposed by the Board of Appeals.

Therefore, I am proposing banning these fees to make appeals more accessible to lower income families that could greatly benefit from appealing the value of their property.
Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation.

Introduced as HB2885
