Subject: | Resolution Directing the Legislative Budget & Finance Committee to Conduct a Social Impact Assessment Study |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution, directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to conduct a study of the requirements and implications of performing social impact assessments for each piece of legislation with socioeconomic, cultural and community impacts. The study will show the viability of conducting thorough assessments of legislation with social and cultural ramifications by incorporating local/regional knowledge and values into the legislative process. The following topics will be the points of focus for future social impact assessments: • Health care for adults and children • Felony crimes for adults and juveniles • Public school finance • The structure or mission of institutions of higher education • The creation of institutions of higher education. The findings from this study will provide policymakers a qualitative and quantitative analysis for identifying the most beneficial course of action for policy making. Please join me in co-sponsoring. |
