Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 9, 2014 02:50 PM
From: Senator Rob Teplitz
To: All Senate members
Subject: Legislation: Bribery of Legislators

In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation that would address bribery in official matters. A member of the General Assembly would be guilty of a felony of the third degree if he/she accepts an offer or promise of an appointment to a position from the Governor, or a person acting on behalf of the Governor, in exchange for a member’s official vote. This would also be true if the member’s immediate family was to gain an appointment.

Bribery has no place in state government. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation that would place a proper penalty on those who abuse their powers.

Introduced as SB191
