Subject: | National Event Permit |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that will amend the Liquor Code to extend the sunshine date for a National Event Permit. The National Event Permit allows a national political party holding their national convention within the Commonwealth to have events directly connected to the convention at authorized licensed or unlicensed premises. The permit would have similar restrictions as a special occasion permit. As you know, this year the Democratic National Convention will be held in Philadelphia on July 25th through 28th and currently due to the expiration of the National Event Permit, would not be able to hold important events needed for a successful convention. The National Event Permit would be the same as utilized for the 2000 Republican National Convention. Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation to help make the 2016 Democratic National Convention a success while also showcasing the Commonwealth’s wonderful hospitality. Thank you. |
