Subject: | Consumer Convenience within the Liquor System |
This week, I will be introducing legislation to finally provide consumers the added convenience they have requested when purchasing alcohol in our commonwealth. My plan will immediately move our Fine Wine and Good Spirits Stores into the 21st Century by expanding stores hours including the ability to open more stores on Sundays, create a customer reward and discount program and allow for the shipment of wine directly to consumers. Pennsylvania consumers will see further convenience within our liquor system through a wine-to-go initiative where licensees, including grocery stores which have obtained a restaurant license, will be able to sell bottles of wine as a carry-out item. For our consumers who enjoy beer, they will see even more convenience in beer sales as restaurants, small delis and hotels will be able to increase the amount of beer that can be purchased for take-home in a single transaction. Furthermore, our beer distributors will be able to sell six-packs, mixed cases and even growlers for those consumers looking to sample multiple styles of beer. Through this legislation, we can truly create a liquor system where convenience is at the forefront while incorporating many common sense initiatives that will maximize the profitability of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Pennsylvania’s consumers want and deserve better convenience TODAY, so please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation and be a part of an immediate and positive impact on our commonwealth and its consumers. Thank you. |
