Subject: | Legislation Providing for Hunting Licenses at No Cost to 100% Disabled Veterans |
In the near future, I intend to re-introduce legislation that would provide hunting licenses for 100% disabled veterans at no cost. This would be applicable for veterans of any war or armed conflict whose physical disability consists of the loss of one or more limbs, or whose physical disability is considered total. Last session, I introduced this measure as House Bill 1088. Presently, Section 2706 of Title 34 (Game) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes provides for disabled veterans to receive a free regular hunting or furtaking license. The legislation that I will be re-introducing would expand the list of no-cost licenses to include antlerless deer, bear, archery, muzzleloader, migratory game bird, elk, and special wild turkey. Veterans are some of the most selfless citizens in our Commonwealth. As we continue to honor their service to our country and to our state, I believe these individuals should be entitled to receive hunting licenses without charge. I hope you will join me in supporting this important legislation. |
