MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 29, 2014 09:19 AM
From: Representative Nick Miccarelli
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution: Urging the US Army to allow Apache helicopters to remain in the National Guard

In the near future, I will introduce legislation which urges the United States Army to allow Apache helicopters to remain in the National Guard.

In Pennsylvania, the National Guard 104th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion would lose 16 Apaches at Johnstown and 8 at Fort Indiantown Gap. General Craig has stated that the changes will “have a huge negative impact on the National Guard and on our capability here in Pennsylvania”.

Once the apaches are removed, all of the support vehicles that work with the aircraft will also be transferred elsewhere and the Pennsylvania National Guard uses this ground equipment whenever there is a domestic emergency. The loss of this equipment “will have a negative impact on our ability in Pennsylvania to respond to an emergency here in the State” according to General Craig.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this Resolution to keep the Apache helicopters in the National Guard.

Thank you for your consideration.
