Subject: | National Day of Prayer Recognition |
Once again this year, I will be offering my Rule 35 resolution for the House's recognition of May 1, 2014 as the National Day of Prayer in Pennsylvania. This day is set aside to pray for our nation, and is held on the first Thursday of May which falls on the 1st this year. This annual event was not created for political reasons, but exists to encourage all citizens to pray for our leaders, communities, families, and each other, and for national healing, reconciliation and unity. It is completely nonsectarian and non-coercive. It is observed federally and in many of our local communities in a completely ecumenical spirit. This resolution has nearly always been a noncontroversial Rule 35 resolution, and passed the House floor vote unanimously again in 2013. I hope for the same in 2014.
