MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 19, 2013 04:00 PM
From: Representative Mark Painter
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Recognizing the 175th Anniversary of the First United Methodist Church of Pottstown

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the 175th anniversary of the First United Methodist Church of Pottstown.

Founded in 1838, the First United Methodist Church has served as an integral part of Pottstown and the surrounding community. While the actual church building has changed over the years to include numerous necessary additions, it remains at its original location, 414 High Street in Pottstown, Montgomery County.

First United Methodist Church has ministered to the Pottstown community through both direct involvement by the congregation and through the ministries of its members. The church has served as home to both the first clothing bank and the first “modern” Sunday school in the Pottstown area.

Thousands have worshipped over the past 175 years at First United Methodist Church and at its height there were 800 members on the rolls.

I hope you will consider joining me in recognizing this milestone for the First United Methodist Church of Pottstown.
