| Subject: | Resolution designating “Week of the Young Child” April 14th – 20th |
| In the near future I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of April 14th -20th, 2013 as the “Week of the Young Child.” The resolution recognizes the people, programs and policies committed to high-quality early education. The National Association for the Education of Young Children has chosen ‘Early Years Are Learning Years’ as the 2013 theme of the “Week of the Young Child.” Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to our community. This resolution is similar to HR 192 of 2011, sponsored by Representative Briggs, which was adopted April 12, 2011 after a unanimous vote of 201-0. I hope that you will join with me to celebrate children’s early learning, to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
