Subject: | Optional Biennial Vehicle Registration Renewal - Formerly HB 268 |
I will be re-introducing legislation that would amend Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statues to provide for optional, biennial vehicle registration renewals for passenger vehicles as well as class one and class two trucks. This change in the vehicle code will give owners the option of renewing their vehicle registration for two years by paying an amount equal to twice their current annual fee. I believe many vehicle owners will appreciate the opportunity to minimize their interactions with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) while also reducing the number of transactions PennDOT must process. This optional two-year registration would only be available for passenger vehicles and class one and class two trucks, and owners that take advantage of this opportunity must still comply with the current vehicle inspection requirements.
