Subject: Legislation Requiring Notice of Edible Vaccines in the Food Supply
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will address the issue of edible vaccines in our food supply.

Scientists have been researching methods of making edible vaccines for various diseases that can be delivered through common foods, such as potatoes, bananas, corn and rice.  It is important that Pennsylvania citizens know what is in their food and a vaccine supplement is no different.

My bill would require any food item sold in Pennsylvania that contains a vaccine or vaccine materials to be labeled and classified as a drug.  This bill will be modeled after legislation in Tennessee that recently passed both chambers and is headed to their Governor for his signature.
