Subject: | Prohibition Against Running For Two Offices Simultaneously |
In the near future I will be introducing legislation which amends the Election Code to prohibit candidates from running for two political offices simultaneously. It has become all too common for candidates, in an effort to secure at least one position, to run for two offices in the same election. I believe this type of safety measure to get a political promotion needs to change. It is also unfair to expect the taxpayers and constituents of the elected official to pay for a special election that would occur if a candidate is elected to both offices and would then be required to resign one of the offices. Therefore, in order to bring fairness to our election process I am drafting legislation that would apply this prohibition across all levels of government – local, state and federal. I invite you to join me in cosponsoring this legislation. |
