Subject: Repayment of Sexual Harassment Settlements
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would require reimbursement of public money used to settle sexual harassment cases against members of the General Assembly.

Recently, there has been a shocking wave of accusations against public officials across the country that have engaged in sexual harassment. We need to put an end to the culture that allows this behavior to continue and to make sure victims receive justice. I believe part of that process needs to be shifting the financial burden of these cases and settlements from taxpayers to the harasser.

For that reason, I plan to introduce legislation that will require a member of the General Assembly to repay any amount of an award or settlement based on a sexual harassment claim that is paid with public funds.
