Subject: Pro Bono Week
 
Please join us in co-sponsoring a resolution designating the week of October 22, 2017 through October 28, 2017 as “Pro Bono Week” in Pennsylvania.

Pro bono, short for pro bono publico, is a Latin term meaning “for the public good.”

In Pennsylvania, most attorneys throughout the state provide voluntary legal assistance to individuals and families in all areas of law, enhancing access to justice for all.

Pennsylvania attorneys provide pro bono services to more than 100,000 low-income clients per year.

The Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association are participating in this October’s annual National Pro Bono Week celebration.

This is an opportunity for all of us to recognize the difference that lawyers make in their communities in recruiting and training more pro bono volunteers and the good work they do for our Commonwealth’s neediest citizens.
