Subject: | Resolution – Domestic Violence Awareness Month |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating October 2016 as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. This resolution encourages all Pennsylvanians to learn more about the causes, signs, preventions, and treatment for domestic violence. In addition, I encourage all members to wear purple on October 13, 2016 to show their support for Domestic Violence Awareness. According to the Pennsylvania Coalition against Domestic Violence, 2014 had 85,643 recipients for all domestic violence services. Additionally, the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence has reported that between 2004 to 2014, at least 1,678 people died as a result of domestic violence-related incidents. Please join me in sponsoring this important resolution. |
