Subject: | Joint State Government Commission study of aging voting machines |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution establishing an advisory task force within the Joint State Government Commission comprised of stakeholders in the election process to discuss and make recommendations for the future of casting and counting of ballots in Pennsylvania. As the equipment that Pennsylvanians use to vote is aging and will need replaced in the next few years, I believe this is an appropriate time to prepare for the future. I believe we need to have some type of plan in place when these aging machines need to be replaced. The need for this task force was brought to my attention by multiple directors of voter registration and elections in my district concerned with the lifespan of current technology, funding for alternatives, and the need to rethink our current system. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this resolution. If you have any questions, please contact Cheryl Schriner in my office, 787-3076 |
