Subject: | Eliminate School Property Taxes |
Soon I will be introducing two pieces of legislation that seek to eliminate school property taxes. My goal is to protect the middle class by eliminating school property taxes. Property taxes have driven many of my constituents out of the homes that they have spent their lives working for, and it is well past time that the legislature finally addresses this problem. My legislation will eliminate property taxes, and will replace them with an increase to the sales tax, as well as the implementation of a progressive income tax. This will ensure that the wealthiest people pay their fair share towards educating the next generation of Pennsylvanians. |
Description: | The first bill will be a Constitutional Amendment that will constitutionally prohibit municipalities and other political subdivisions from levying property taxes upon the citizens of Pennsylvania. Additionally the amendment will authorize a graduated income tax for the purpose of offsetting school property taxes. |

Description: | The second bill will implement both an increase in the sales tax by 1%, and a graduated income tax ranging from 1% to 4%, and will only apply to persons making more than $100,000. | |
