Subject: Resolution – Domestic Violence Awareness Month
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating October 2015 as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.

This resolution encourages all Pennsylvanians to learn more about the causes and signs of domestic violence, as well as preventions and treatment. In addition, I encourage all members to wear purple on October 13, 2015 to show support for Domestic Violence Awareness.

According to the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV), in 2014 there were 85,643 recipients for all domestic violence services. Additionally, the PCADV has reported that between 2000 and 2009, at least 1,455 people died as a result of domestic violence-related incidents, a rate that has increased nearly by 50% between 2007 and 2009.
