Subject: | Parent Involvement Month |
Next week I will offer a resolution recognizing October 2014 as “Parent Involvement month” in Pennsylvania. For a child to excel in school requires parents who are involved in their lives both prior and during their school years. A child’s first and most influential teacher is his or her parents in addition to their guardians, grandparents and other family members. That is why Pennsylvania supports high quality early childhood parenting programs and efforts that engage parents in their children’s early learning. As a body, it is important that we emphasize the critical role parents play in their children’s lives and urge all citizens to recognize and celebrate the critical role parents have in their children’s learning and education. Please consider joining me in sponsoring this resolution. |
