| In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the week of October 13 through October 19, 2013, as Credit Union Week in Pennsylvania. Credit unions are individual, independent cooperatives founded by individuals working together towards economic advancement and uniting people seeking a way to improve their future. Pennsylvania currently has 499 credit unions which empower their customers to improve their economic situations by serving the financial needs of 3.7 million members, associated through local, state, regional, and international organizations sharing the same commitment to serving credit union members. The unselfish efforts of volunteers organized through credit unions have benefited many worthwhile causes throughout this Commonwealth and beyond. Therefore, I ask that you join me in supporting this resolution recognizing the week of October 13 through October 19, 2013 as Credit Union Week in Pennsylvania.
