Subject: | Recognizing May 20, 2024, as “Rescue Dog Day” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating May 20, 2024, as “Rescue Dog Day” in Pennsylvania. National Rescue Dog Day was established in 2018 and is observed annually on May 20. National Rescue Dog Day promotes the adoption of dogs from shelters and the spaying and neutering of pets to reduce shelter populations. As shelters struggle to keep up with the number of dogs in their care, which has increased nationally since 2021, it’s important to raise awareness about the practices that limit our pet populations and to encourage the adoption of dogs from shelters that can be loving animals that deserve a second chance at a “forever home.” I hope you will join me as a co-sponsor in designating May 20, 2024 as “Rescue Dog Day” in Pennsylvania. |
