MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 17, 2024 01:17 PM

To: All House members
Subject: Agricultural Marketing and Research Promotion Boards

In recent years Pennsylvania has created marketing and research promotion boards for wine and for brewed beverages. These boards fall under both the Department of Agriculture and the Liquor Control Board and provide for grants to the industry. After discussions with these agencies, there is a need to simplify how these boards operate and are administered in Pennsylvania.

Therefore, I will be introducing legislation which would move the administration of these grant programs to the Department of Agriculture. This move with help simplify and streamline the process for the marketing and promotion boards to award grants.

My legislation will also include a Distilled Spirits Industry Promotion Board following the new structure of the board under the Department of Agriculture. The Pennsylvania Distilling Industry has made great strides over the years and with this board could reach new levels of production and success. It is crucial we provide the distillery industry in Pennsylvania the same opportunities we have given both beer and wine.

Please join me in supporting this important legislation which provides for economic opportunities in these strong and growing Pennsylvania industries.
