MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 24, 2023 02:26 PM
From: Representative Jim Rigby
To: All House members
Subject: Corporal James R. Beck USMC Memorial Bridge.

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to dedicate a bridge in memory of a true American hero, a decorated soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. The legislation would dedicate a bridge, identified as Bridge Key 48914 in Gallitzin Township, Cambria County, as the Corporal James R. Beck USMC Memorial Bridge.

Corporal James Beck served in the United States Marine Corps with D Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division during the Vietnam War. He was killed in an explosion in the Quang Nam Province of South Vietnam. For his bravery and gallantry in action, Corporal Beck was awarded the Purple Heart along with many other decorations.

By dedicating this bridge in his honor, we are not only paying tribute to Corporal James Beck’s extraordinary service and sacrifice, but also ensuring that his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of the Cambria County community.

I kindly request your support for this legislation.
