| Subject: | National Disability Employment Awareness Month October 2023 |
| According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 25.5% of adult Pennsylvanians have a type of disability. Accounting for over a quarter of the adult population of our Commonwealth, these individuals contribute significantly to Pennsylvania’s economy in a variety of different sectors. Workers with disabilities strengthen Pennsylvania’s workforce by bringing diverse skills and talents to many varying occupations. National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about issues that people with disabilities face when seeking employment and while on the job. NDEAM occurs each October and honors the many contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. NDEAM is a time that we as policy makers should not only recognize these workers but formulate policy that fosters a supportive and inclusive employment environment. We ask for your support and to join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to honor the contributions of these workers to better Pennsylvania’s economy. |
