Subject: Supporting Our Returning Heroes Through a Veteran Employment Tax Credit

We must ensure that our veterans have something worthwhile to come home to after bravely serving our country. The transition from military life to civilian life can be difficult and having steady employment can help. Veterans need and deserve good job opportunities, and as legislators we can support economic programs that promote job growth.

To best help our veterans, the federal government passed the Work Opportunity Tax Credit to provide incentives for businesses to hire unemployed veterans. My legislation is simple: it will supplement this federal program by providing an additional $2,000 tax credit from the Commonwealth for businesses that employ a qualified veteran under the federal act.

We all want to grow Pennsylvania’s economy and provide good jobs that pay real wages and real benefits. While our military men and women are fighting to protect the American way of life, we can fight for their successful transition back to civilian life.

We must stand up for a strong economy and a strong workforce. Veterans are a crucial component to this. Please join me in co-sponsoring this veteran workforce initiative.
