MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 10, 2023 10:54 AM
From: Representative Joe Kerwin and Rep. Patty Kim
To: All House members
Subject: Gold Star Families Memorial Monument – Capitol Complex

In the near future, Rep. Kim and I plan to introduce legislation to authorize the construction of the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument on the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex. This monument will honor and recognize the sacrifice of the fallen and remember the families they leave behind.

The monument itself will be sponsored by the Woody Williams Foundation, which was established to honor and support Gold Star Families. It will be built to reflect five main philosophical pillars of the foundation: homeland, family, patriot, sacrifice, and legacy. The goal of erecting this monument will be to establish a permanent place for Gold Star Families to gather, remember and honor their fallen loved one(s), and to assist in educating the public on the ultimate sacrifice the bravest patriots made for them and their country.

The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument is proposed to be constructed South of the Auditorium Forum Building, East of the Irvis Office Building, and North of Walnut Street.

Please join us in supporting this legislation to help bring awareness to the public and to honor these heroes and their families.
