| In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would create a program to reimburse Pennsylvanians for the cost of water testing and installation of in-home water filtration system. The Pennsylvania Constitution guarantees our right to pure water in Article 1, Section 27 that states, “The people have a right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment.” Many Pennsylvania’s have been effected by water contamination from lead, perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), and other contaminants. Those who do not have access to clean water in their homes must find other sources for clean water or invest in a filtration systems. Since the Constitution guarantees the right to pure water it is the responsibility of the Commonwealth to provide all Pennsylvanians with means to achieve clean water in their home. Please join me in protecting the health and safety of the public and ensuring our residents have access to clean drinking water by co-sponsoring this legislation. |
