Subject: | Resolution designating August as Stevens Johnson Syndrome Awareness Month |
I will introduce a resolution designating the month of August, 2018 as “Stevens Johnson Syndrome Awareness Month”. Steven Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epodermal Necrolysis Syndrome, another form of SJS, are severe allergic reactions to prescription and over-the-counter medications. Those afflicted with SJS experience severe inflammation of the mucus membranes and, if left untreated, SJS can result in blindness, other serious health problems and death. The SJS Foundation’s mission is to provide support, education, and advocacy through the compilation and distribution of valuable information about SJS to the public and medical professionals regarding treatments and therapies. The SJS Foundation is using August as a month to promote their mission. If you have any questions regarding this bill, please contact Cindy Abbott in my Harrisburg office at cabbott@pahousegop.com. |
