From: Representative Jake Wheatley, Jr.
To: All House members
Subject: Condolence Resolution Recognizing the Accomplishments & Life of Katie Everette Johnson

In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution recognizing the accomplishments and life of Katie Everette Johnson. For over thirty years, Ms. Johnson managed the Office of Equal Opportunity for the Port Authority of Allegheny County. During her tenure she created the Classroom on Wheels program, where bus drivers would visit schools to foster better relationships with young students. She was also a guest at the White House, three times during the Johnson Administration to discuss race relations. Katie Everette Johnson sat on the board of the National Association of Negro Businesses as well as the board of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and many others. She was awarded many times, including but of course not limited to the Iota Woman of the Year award and the Pittsburgh Courier’s Distinguished Citizen Award. Katie Everette Johnson passed away on March 8th 2017 at the age of 94. She is survived by her daughter Everette P. Johnson.

Please consider joining me in supporting this resolution and recognizing the many contributions that Ms. Katie Everette Johnson made throughout her long life.
