Subject: | Reasonable Family Access to Cemeteries |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation which would allow family members reasonable access to plots in a cemetery where a relative is buried, regardless if the cemetery is owned by a company, person, or private family. Currently, in my district, families are forbidden access to their loved ones’ graves in a recently bought, now privately owned cemetery. The new owners have posted NO TRESPASSING signs and have called the police when members of the families attempt to visit their mothers’, fathers’, and children’s graves. I am introducing this legislation so that no one has to go through the additional pain of not being able to visit and mourn their deceased family members. Please join me and co-sponsor this important and emotional legislation. |
