Subject: Reinstating Dual Enrollment

In the near future I plan to introduce legislation to reinstate the dual enrollment grant program in the Commonwealth. The grant program will again give students the ability to better and challenge themselves at the secondary school level, and in turn better prepare them for post-secondary education.

We talk about funding education so much these days, the discussion of where it is best to spend sometimes becomes lost. Dual enrollment programs allow students to make the best of their education through learning at more challenging levels without adding costs to our public schools. With college courses available to students who qualify, it will challenge those students without disrupting the learning process of those who need more remediation time in high school. This could better prepare all students.

The dual enrollment grant program is an investment in education, an investment in our youth, and an investment in our future. I hope you will join with me in supporting dual enrollment by co-sponsoring this legislation.
