Subject: | February 2015 as National Children's Dental Health Month |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that establishes February 2015 as National Children’s Dental Health Month. Oral health offers a glimpse into the overall health of an individual and is of the utmost importance despite people’s inclination to overlook it. Without proper oral hygiene, naturally occurring bacteria in the mouth can increase to dangerous levels which then lead to disease. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, cavities in early childhood is the most common chronic disease affecting children. This legislation establishes February 2015 be recognized as National Children’s Dental Health Month and emphasizes the importance of proper dental health in children. The sooner regular dental checkups begin and the sooner kids learn the proper ways to take care of their teeth, the healthier those kids will be overall. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
