Subject: | Subject: Employment of illegal aliens (HB 235 of 2013) |
In the near future I will be re-introducing legislation (House Bill 235 of 2013) amending Title 18 which would require that any employer found to have employed illegal aliens shall be subject to the suspension or revocation of their professional or business license by the applicable authority or agency and shall also be fined a $5,000 penalty. While we passed legislation requiring public works employers to use the E-Verify system to determine the employment eligibility of job applicants, it is important that we do everything we can to help preserve jobs for our citizens. My legislation goes one step further to ensure that employers with professional or business licenses also face consequences for hiring illegal residents. I invite you to join me as a co-sponsor of this legislation. Thank you. |
