Subject: | Resolution – Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of The Silver Academy |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution to commemorate the 70th anniversary of The Silver Academy, a Jewish Community Day School in Harrisburg serving students of the Jewish faith from pre-school through middle school. For over seventy years, The Silver Academy has welcomed children from all spectrums of the Jewish faith and provided them with a nurturing environment to help them develop critical thinking skills, a passion for knowledge, a love of Israel, and a sincere desire to contribute to their community, to the Jewish people, and to the greater society. The Silver Academy's unique philosophy and its integrated curriculum stress the values and traditions of a rich Judaic heritage and of American democratic ideals, while preparing students to meet the challenges of living in contemporary society. Students of The Silver Academy have gone on to become leaders in their communities and careers who embody Jewish pride in all of their endeavors. Seventy years ago when Rabbi David L. Silver established the Yeshiva Academy in Harrisburg, there was much uncertainty for the Jewish people around the world. However, Rabbi Silver understood that investing in education, and investing in our children, was the best strategy for ensuring a future for the Jewish people. The ongoing legacy of The Silver Academy is a testament to his great wisdom. My family has had a long relationship with the school, so I can personally attest to its values in our community. I hope you will join me in recognizing an exceptional institution, one that has served the Harrisburg community for over seventy years. |
