HESS, Dick, L., a Representative from Bedford, Fulton and Huntingdon Counties; born, September 12, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa.; graduated, Saxton Liberty High School, 1958; chief clerk, commissioners, Bedford County (1965-1972); elected, prothonotary and clerk of courts, Bedford County (1972-1987); president, Bedford Republican Club; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1987 term was reelected to 13 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, board member, PennVEST (2009-2013); appointed, Select Committee on Alternatives for the Operation of the Philadelphia International Airport (2000); elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (2004, 2008, 2012); died while in office, September 6, 2013 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
