(4 years); clerk, Bank of Delaware County, Chester (2 years); junior partner, Eyre and Manley, merchants (4 years); lawyer (1848-1880); elected, school board, Media; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1856 term, not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1857 term; elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1856); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1858); elected, council, Media (2 terms); elected, mayor, Media; died, December 19, 1880 in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Saint David Church Cemetery; Wayne, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
