HUMPHREY, Dr. William T., a Representative from Tioga County; born, December 22, 1824 in Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY; M.D., Albany Medical College, 1848; assistant surgeon, 13th Regiment, 1st Pennsylvania Rifles, "Bucktails," Pennsylvania Reserve Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); surgeon, 149th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); brigade surgeon, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 1st Army Corps, United States Army (1863, Civil War); surgeon in chief, 3rd Division, 1st Army Corps, United States Army (1863-1865, Civil War; prisoner of war, 1863); physician; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1866, 1867, 1875, and 1876 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1877); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1880); died, July 31, 1897 in Osceola, Tioga County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fairview Cemetery, Osceola, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
