TYLER, Casper W., a Representative from Crawford County; born, Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pa., on March 6, 1838; attended, Cortland Academy; attended, New York Central College, 1856; lieutenant colonel, Company H, 141st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War); lawyer; appointed, assistant assessor, Internal Revenue, United States Internal Revenue Department (1865-1866); publisher, Meadville Republican (1867-1869); proprietor and publisher, Crawford Journal (1869-1872); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1877, 1878 and 1881 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1879, 1882); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1882); elected, city council, Meadville (1883); died on October 22, 1922, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; Interred, Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
