DAVIS, Ephraim Lemuel, a Representative from Forest County; born, November 18, 1836 in Conewango Township, Warren County, Pa.; farmer; teacher; engaged, oil business (1859-1873); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1861); merchant; appointed, United States Oil Inspector (1862); elected, justice of the peace, Forest County (1867-1869); elected, sheriff, Forest County (1869-1872); elected, council, Tionesta; school director, Tionesta; attorney-at-law (1874-1924); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1881 and 1883 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1885 term; organized, Tionesta Gas Company (1886); died in 1924; interred, Riverside Cemetery, Tionesta, Forest County, Pennsylvania.
