EMERSON, John L., a Representative from Crawford County; born, July 18, 1868 in Titusville, Crawford County, Pa.; graduated, Phillips Academy, Andover, Ma.; attended, Yale University; graduated, Columbia Law School, 1892; engaged in the oil industry; chair, Crawford County Draft Board No. 1 (1917-1918, World War I); attorney; school director, Titusville; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a Special Election on January 11, 1906; Sworn-In, January 15, 1906 to serve the remaining 1905 term; reelected to the House in 1906; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1908); director, Second National Bank (19 years); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1914); died, January 31, 1939 in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi; interred, Ellis Cemetery, Roseland, Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
