MATTHEWS, Jacob F., a Representative from Lycoming County; born in Cogan House Township, Lycoming County, Pa., February 18, 1891; attended, The Automotive Engineering School of Detroit; maintenance and concessions operation, New York City Railroad (20 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1937 term (Sworn-In on December 1, 1936) and 1939 term; resigned from the House, December 30, 1939; elected, sheriff, Lycoming County (1942-1946); elected, commissioner, Lycoming County (1946-1956); died, March 28, 1963 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Salladasburg Cemetery, Salladasburg, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
