PARKER, H. Sheldon, Jr., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., April 14, 1938; attended, Mt. Lebanon Public Schools; attended, finance courses, New York Institute of Finance; B.A., political science, Williams College, 1960; M.A., political science, University of Pittsburgh, 1965; served, Pennsylvania National Guard (1964); served, United States Army Reserve; investment broker and director of public relations, Parker/Hunter Inc. (1962-1979); author; member, Republican State Committee (1964-1966); director, The Performing Arts for Children; director, Health Systems Agency of Southwestern Pennsylvania; Republican State Committeeman; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1966; served 5 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1978); secretary and treasurer, Pennsylvania Public Television Commission (1979-2003); general manager and CEO, Pennsylvania Public Television Network.
